14th October - Titchwell and Thornham

20 of us enjoyed the bracing weather at Titchwell and a few hardy souls went on to Thornham too.  We explored the new East and Autumn Trails which give good views of the reed beds and marshes.  By mid-afternoon it was 'nice weather for ducks' and when I asked someone what could be seen from the Parrinder Hide, their answer was 'rain and mud'!

By the time it took to drink a cup of coffee, the weather had cleared and looked promising for sunset at (very!) high tide at Thornham.

Here are a few images from our day out.

9th October - Photographing cats, dogs & other animals by Martin Fry

There were over 40 of us in the audience to hear Martin Fry, a Norwich based professional photographer, talk about photographing pets.  Many of Martin's images can be seen in calendars and greetings cards and he shared some of his behind-the-scenes secrets with us.  Martin showed us hundreds of his images illustrating the wide range of styles within pet photography which truly went from the sublime to the ridiculous!  It was interesting to see Martin's commercially successful images - a change from our usual competition images and the judges' favourites.

Our first competition of the season was a digital event, having an open theme and a total of 59 entries.

As always we were treated to a blend of constructive comments and humour from Angela Adams, our judge for the evening, which contributed to making the well attended evening a great success.

A big thank you to Angela and everyone who attended and contributed to a great first round and below are the top scoring images. Well done everyone!!

Friday 21st September - Sea Mere Gardens, Hingham

Thanks to all who turned up for our first Club Event of the new season.  Judy Watson gave us a quick introduction and tour of the different areas of interest within the fantastic gardens.  We were amazed to discover that most of the planting and ongoing upkeep of the garden is carried out by Judy with help from just one student. After the guided tour we all went off to do our own thing.  Some of the resulting images can be seen below - hope you enjoy them.

Exhibition at Dragonfly Gallery, Watton

Twenty members of the club provided 60 images for our first exhibition which is being held at the Dragonfly Gallery in Watton.  Many of the exhibitors were there for the preview evening last Friday which was also attended by the Mayor of Watton, Paul Cooper and his wife Maureen, the Mayoress.

Many thanks to David Blake and Robin Orrow who took these photos at the preview evening.
