Tuesday 27th January 2015 Round 2 Digital Competition

Our EAF judge for the evening was Adrian Stone and he had a total of 76 digital images to assess and score.  He carefully analysed each image to identify their strengths and weaknesses before giving a score.  Adrian's constructive comments will help us all look at our images in a more critical light in the future.

Well done to the six people who scored the maximum 20.  Here are their images:

Tuesday 13th January Presenting Panels, Roger Hance

This evening we welcomed Roger Hance, FRPS, BPE5*, AFIAP.  Roger presents many talks and tonight we heard all about creating a panel of print images.  Using a wide range of photo styles and topics, he shared tips on arranging prints into panels of different designs.  Before long we were 'hands on' moving prints around to see the effect of alternative layouts.

In a few months time Roger's tips will be put to the test when we have our 'Focus On Panels' meeting.

Many thanks to Roger for sharing so much information about how and where his photographs were taken.  For more details of Roger's photography, see his website at http://www.rogerhancefrps.com/index.html.

Tuesday 6th January Introduction to Lightroom

Many thanks to Bob Darts who took us on a tour of Lightroom 5.  After comparing the pros and cons of LR and PS Elements /CC, Bob briefly looked at the Library module and importing files before concentrating on the RAW converter and other facilities in the Develop module.  We saw global adjustments and local adjustments using the radial filter and adjustment brush.

Bob finished by working on one image to demonstrate some of the tools and techniques.  For those of us just getting to grips with Lightroom, it was just the job!
