Tuesday 23rd October - Print Competition Round 1

Our judge for this evening's print competition was Jeff White.  This was his third visit to our club and we had over 70 prints for him to assess and score.  Jeff commented that the Club class entries were of a particularly high standard.

As you can see from the top scorers below, the images featured a wide range of topics and styles which made for an entertaining evening.  Well done to those whose images scored highly.

Many thanks to Jeff for his comments and to club members who supported WDPC by entering prints and attending the evening.

14th October - Titchwell and Thornham

20 of us enjoyed the bracing weather at Titchwell and a few hardy souls went on to Thornham too.  We explored the new East and Autumn Trails which give good views of the reed beds and marshes.  By mid-afternoon it was 'nice weather for ducks' and when I asked someone what could be seen from the Parrinder Hide, their answer was 'rain and mud'!

By the time it took to drink a cup of coffee, the weather had cleared and looked promising for sunset at (very!) high tide at Thornham.

Here are a few images from our day out.

9th October - Photographing cats, dogs & other animals by Martin Fry

There were over 40 of us in the audience to hear Martin Fry, a Norwich based professional photographer, talk about photographing pets.  Many of Martin's images can be seen in calendars and greetings cards and he shared some of his behind-the-scenes secrets with us.  Martin showed us hundreds of his images illustrating the wide range of styles within pet photography which truly went from the sublime to the ridiculous!  It was interesting to see Martin's commercially successful images - a change from our usual competition images and the judges' favourites.
