Visit to Ely

Poor weather didn't deter 15 hardy souls from WDPC from meeting up bright and early on Saturday morning outside Ely's Tourist Information Office (formerly Oliver Cromwell's house).  We headed straight for the shelter of the Cathedral where, in addition to its usual architectural splendour, there were Harvest Festival displays including live sheep and chickens.
Some of our more intrepid members climbed one of the Cathedral's towers to get a bird's eye view of the interior of the Cathedral and the City of Ely.
Continued rain forced some of us to enjoy a leisurely lunch at the Lamb. A few treacle puddings later,  the rain had stopped and we were able to stroll through Cathedral Meadows to the riverside through Jubilee Gardens.  You can imagine our disappointment when another shower forced us to take shelter in the famous Peacock Tearooms!   It may not sound like there was much photography going on, but we did manage to grab a few shots!
