Saturday 2nd July - History Alive at Stonham Barns

13 of us had a great day at Stonham Barns watching and photographing the different historical re-enactment groups.  There were Vikings, Medieval archers, Saxons, Spanish Civil War volunteers, 19th century American wild west cowboys and more.  All the groups were authentically dressed and most armed to the teeth.

Throughout the day there were various displays in the arena including 'Lady Jan's' Viking warrior fighting to protect her honour - we think he won!  From the Crimea War, the 19th Regiment of Foot, The Green Howards, fired a variety of musketts.  Each of the groups also had their own camps set up to show life at that time.

As is customary on our trips, we took the time to check out the coffee and cake, lunches, strawberries and cream and afternoon cream tea, and all were very good!
