Sunday 15th April - Lavenham

Unfortunately, for once, the forecasters got it right!  Sunshine, showers, hailstones together with a very sharp north wind - never mind, we avoided getting too wet by sheltering in one coffee shop or another every time the heavens opened!

It was lovely to see some of our new members joining in a club event.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves wandering around Lavenham's very attractive medieval cottages and houses and the very splendid Church of St Peter and St Paul led by our guide for the day Andy Caws.  Hopefully some interesting images will have been taken, although I'm not sure what judges might make of the leaning verticals and weird perspectives of most of the timber framed buildings.

Tuesday 3rd April - Indoor Portrait Practical

Over 30 members + 2 guests (who were members by the end of the evening!) attended David Blake's studio evening.

We all packed into the small room to enjoy David's practical demonstration of some simple lighting and flash techniques that we can all put into practice at home.  Everyone then had the opportunity to 'have a go'.  A big 'thank you' to Jackie for being our model for the evening.

David went on to share some of his techniques for post production editing with some amazing results.  Thank you David for an excellent evening with lots of useful information which, hopefully, will inspire many of us to take better portraits.

Match a Print - Ladies vs Gentlemen

Well, the Match a Print evening went very well.... for the ladies!!!
A very enjoyable evening with the usual banter  and a great selection of images, thanks to our judge for the evening David Saunders CPAGB.

Don't forget your cameras, tripods and flashguns for tomorrow evening for a talk by myself on Basic Indoor Portraits....

Sunday 11th March - Felbrigg Hall and Cromer

We struck lucky with the weather again.  Clear blue sky all day - perfect for our Club day out at Felbrigg Hall.  After a quick coffee, we divided into two groups; one explored the Hall's interior and the other explored the parkland and woods.

Picnic lunch was the order of the day, with plenty of pork pies on the menu!  Following lunch, a gentle stroll around the walled and woodland gardens revealed daffodils and camellias in full bloom - the perfect opportunity for practising hyperfocal distance shots.

We then moved on to Cromer and spent some time taking long exposure shots on the beach - too long as it turned out because the fish and chip shops had just closed as we got back into town!  Not to be beaten we managed to track down an excellent Indian restaurant.  It was a long day but hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves and managed to come away with a few good images.

28th February - Print Competition Round 2

We had a very well attended competition evening with nearly 40 of us, including 3 guests, enjoying the 41 prints on display.  The theme for the evening was 'Low Light' and there were some unusual interpretations of the theme.  Many thanks go to our judge, Jeff White, who did an excellent job reviewing each image and offering helpful, constructive criticism.

Club Event - 17th February - Fakenham Races

Lucky 13 of us turned up for what turned out to be an excellent day at the races.  The weather was much kinder than forecast with no rain and even a little sunshine.  Some of us arrived early and discovered that there were greyhounds and lurchers running before the horses. Great fun, but very tricky to capture as they shot past at an amazing rate of knots!  We saw a mixture of hurdle and steeplechase races and were able to position ourselves right up next to the rails - the noise of the hooves thundering past was quite exhilarating.  Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable day and I believe some even came away in profit!  I wonder if number 5 has crossed the finishing line yet!
