As we have reverted to Zoom meetings for the next few weeks it was good to welcome Ben Lumley to WDPC to share his ideas on Sports Photography and show us some excellent images.The sound in the first half was difficult but problems solved in the interval and second half was much better.
Ben told us his photographic journey and only started his business just under 5 years ago. And yet he has already been awarded the Sports Photographer Award of the year. It is easy to see why as with his images Ben tries to show a different side of the various events. This could be showing a wider view rather than a close-up of the action, even using a drone to try to convey a different story.
He showed several portrait images and how he had captured them, with very basic one light set ups.
His talk certainly showed us the need to take images of things you are passionate about but then you need to practice, practice and practice, not to mention being persistent. Well done Ben and thanks for coming along to us in Norfolk. Easier via Zoom from Nottingham rather than in person!
