Tuesday 28 January - Print Competition Round 2

We welcomed judge Wes Gibbon and he had a busy evening assessing 55 print images across the three classes.  After giving detailed comments on each print, he then held several back and gave them another critical once-over.  He finally awarded 8 images top marks of 20/20 and a further 8 were given 19/20.  Thanks to everyone who entered and many congratulations to everyone whose images scored 19 or 20.  You can see these top scoring images again below.

These 8 scored 20/20.

Cambridge Interclub Digital Competition

What a great start to 2014!  With a total score of 87 out 100, WDPC finished in 11th place (out of 36 clubs) in the 2014 Cambridge CC Interclub Digital Competition.  The competition is in five rounds: Monochrome, People, Landscape, Natural History and Open and clubs enter one image in each round.  The final scores were very close and we were thrilled to bits to do so well at our first attempt.  Three of our images were awarded maximum scores of 20 and were in the running for the Best Image Award.  Di’s Loaves, Fishes and the 500 made it through to the last 14 (out of 180 images) and Robin’s Arctic Terns and Arctic Fox went right through to the final 7 - a fantastic achievement, well done Robin and Di.  Here are all five images which represented our club.

Letter of thanks from RSPB

Club members and guests at our Christmas dinner donated £138 to support the RSPB reserves that suffered so much damage in the storms a few weeks ago.  This amount was matched by Naturediet Pet Foods Ltd so a total of £270 was donated. We have just received this letter of thanks from Dr Mike Clarke, RSPB Chief Executive.

Let's hope the habitats and the wildlife make a good recovery.

Tuesday 3rd December - Focus On ... Getting Creative

We had 37 entries in our Focus On … Getting Creative session.  It should have been 39 because Tim Leonard sent in two images which unfortunately I managed to overlook and we didn’t get to see them last night.  I’ve included them here so we finally get to see them - sorry Tim.

We saw imaginative results achieved in a variety of ways.  I know several people have learnt a little more about PS Elements and other editing software while working on their images.  Congratulations to Heather whose two images 'Twist & Turn' and 'Petals' were voted 1st and 2nd favourite images on the night.  And well done Caroline in 3rd place with 'Inner World'.  These and a few other favourites can be seen here.

Tuesday 26 November - Digital Competition Round 1

Many thanks to all club members who submitted images in the first round of our digital competition.  We had 75 images for our judge Andy Wilson to critique and score.  It was an Open competition so any subject matter was allowed and we saw a huge range of topics and some excellent images.  Well done to all those whose images were awarded scores of 19 and 20 - their images can be seen below.
