Tuesday 23rd September 2014 WDPC Phototrek Challenge

We enjoyed a busy evening seeing everybody's Phototrek images taken during our summer break.

Our three judges, Chris Hollick, Elaine Stubbings and Stephen Olley, scored 144 images in nine categories.  The images were projected category at a time and the judges assessed each image and awarded a score from 1 to 5.  

Now we are busy entering the scores into the spreadsheet ready to announce the Champion and runners up at our meeting on 14th October.  The winning portfolios will be posted here after that meeting.

Thursday 10th July - Oulton Broad Powerboat Racing

Many thanks to the (fool) hardy members who turned up for what was probably the wettest club event on record!

Did it stop us enjoying the evening?  Certainly not!  Images were obtained at the risk of drowning.  Wet weather gear or not, the rain managed to permeate all layers down to the skin!

Obviously it was essential to find somewhere to dry out fairly quickly and The Crown at Carlton Colville provided us with the perfect solution - warm, comfortable surroundings and delicious food soon had us feeling relaxed and very pleased with our evening’s efforts.

Tuesday 1 July - Out & About in Norwich

22 of us enjoyed a lovely summer evening in Norwich with our cameras.  We set out in small groups with help on hand from the more experienced club members.  The choice of subjects was almost overwhelming so we challenged ourselves to find three types of image:

• leading lines
• a different angle
• shutter speed 1s or longer

Tuesday 24 June - Image of the Year Competition

We welcomed back Adrian Stone to judge the club’s final competition of this season, Image of the Year.  In the first part of the evening 27 digital images were in the mix.  10 were held back before Adrian declared Robin Orrow’s ‘Wreck of the Sunbeam’ the WDPC Digital Image of the Year.  

In the print competition, 25 images had been entered.  After giving each image a thorough critique, 10 short-listed prints were set aside and Di Jackson’s ‘Loaves, Fishes and the 5000’ was judged to be WDPC’s Print Image of the Year.

Our thanks to Adrian Stone who made sure the evening was both informative and entertaining.
