There were plenty of sightings of marsh harriers, little egrets, greylag geese, various ducks and waders but all at a distance too great for most of us so the photographic opportunities were limited. Some of us were lucky enough to get a brief glimpse of the otter and the bittern at Island Mere. The star attractions of the day were definitely the carrot cake and the coffee cake!
Some members of the Springwatch crew were there preparing for the BBC's programme which goes out later this year (a certain club member couldn't resist the opportunity for a quick 'selfie'!).
