Training Notes

Images for competitions

While our website is being upgraded and the Information Sheets are not instantly available, here are some notes on getting your images ready for competitions and Focus On sessions.  If you need any help with this, please contact Robin robin.orrow@naturediet.co.uk or David Blake davidblake1@mac.com.

Digital competitions (and Focus On … sessions at Club meetings):

Digital images must be formatted to fit within a frame of 1400 pixels wide x 1050 pixels high.  Therefore a portrait image must be no more than 1050 pixels tall. They should also be Jpegs, profiled to sRGB.  Image resolution is not important but 72 or 96 ppi is usual.  The image file size should not be more than 1.5 Mb, but larger files may be submitted.  Larger files may be reduced to below 1.5Mb at the discretion of the Competition Secretary.

Digital images should be titled exactly as follows including capitalisation and without hyphens:
IMAGE TITLE by Author.jpg (e.g. NORFOLK SUNSET by John Smith.jpg)

Print competitions:

Prints may be any size or aspect ratio within the following limits.  Prints should not be smaller than A4 if at all possible.  Prints may not be larger than A3.  The mount must not exceed 500mm x 400mm.

Prints should be labelled in the top left, on the back of the mount with the image title, the member’s name and class. The top of the image should be clearly marked on the back: ‘TOP’ or by an arrow pointing to the top.
